A medium dark, semi-translucent ruby red colour, leading to a tiny rim. This wine is simply bursting with life - squished bramble, plum and blackcurrant fruit aromas greet the nose, with a whole host of garrigue herb, roasted red meat, new leather, citrus and forest floor notes and even a whiff of exotic spice. The palate is similarly crammed full of juicy, tangy, sweet-sour black fruit and desiccated orange flavours, again with a touch of savoury and spice thrown in. All of which is wrapped around a core of mouth-watering soft citrus acidity and gently rustic tannins. The result is an utterly delicious, life-affirming, yet far from simple wine - whilst dangerously quaffable, each sip reveals new interest and keeps you coming back for more, if only for "research purposes"! This isn't a wine that is designed for ageing (although I suspect it will keep for a few years). But why bother, when it is so wonderful to drink now (tasted December 2021)?
