Aged in oak barrels, 25% of which are new. The nose is wonderfully fruity and smoky and crammed full of ripe blueberry, bramble, blackcurrant and black cherry aromas, with subtle freshly-baked bread and spice notes. The palate is rich and mouth-filling - but never over-powering - offering ripe red and black fruit flavours, a gently spicy savoriness, matched by equally ripe tannins and offset by an underlying fresh fruitiness and ample soft-citrus acidity. This is a beautifully rounded, sweet-sour-spicy wine, with a hint of warming eau de vie on a very long finish. It is perfect to drink now, but will age and evolve nicely for another 5+ years. Question is - why wait? |
