A "vin de pressurage", rather than the usual "saignée" method - so instead of being a by-product of the red wine-making process, this is proper rosé. A rather beautiful, translucent, bright onion skin colour, with orange glints. Aromas of redcurrant, nectarine and desiccated orange greet the nose, with subtle notes of garrigue herbs and flowers, all of which come through on the palate, along with further hints of red cherry and spiced apple tart. It has plenty of concentration, bags of acidity and even a modicum of grape tannin, but none of the pithiness often found in less well made rosés. It really is rather elegant and certainly not lacking in complexity, and finishes tangy and long. A beautifully made wine. |
